Tip of the Month -- MAY 2005 -- Proportion in Training

from Darryl Nelson (email Darryl)

Do not make the mistake of "emphasizing" certain parts of your body while performing your strength training. Really, your emphasis should be on proportion. You should perform equal amounts of work for your lower body and upper body, muscles in the front and the back of your body, as well as left and right. This is very important for prevention of injuries. It is also simple to do...when you do pushing exercises like bench press you should do an equal number of sets on a pulling exercise like rows.
